Winter Devon Schools Games - Netball

By Imogen and Mae Year 6

    Match 1

During the first half of playing Langtree, we were losing 2-1. It was very tight and very tough. Then, after much support from Lucy and Claire, we put our heads in the game and the defence became stronger and the shooting more accurate. We did not let any more goals in and scored another shot making it a draw.

    Match 2

Unfortunately, Oldway had an advantage with their height. Also, our rotations were not the strongest. It started very well and we were winning 2-0 but in the second half, the opposition got many interceptions from our passes and scored three goals. The final score ended as 2-3 to Oldway.

    Match 3

Horrabridge benefitted from our low moral after losing the previous match. We did not let this get the better of us and the game finished as 3-3.
The following four matches were against Drake, Brixington, Haywards and Bickley Down which were won and played extremely well. Some games were won by a lot and some were close but they all finished positively for us: 3-2, 8-3, 5-2, and 3-2. Whether, coincidently or not, our matches were successful after two team members, Mae and Jack, put their lucky 5p in their shoes.
In the semi-finals, we played Homelands and won 5-3, sending us directly through to the finals. We played Bradley Barton (our main rivals in sport) and, for the first time in Rydon history, 2won 6-4. Because of this, we won the County Finals!
